Virtual Reality in gaming has been a hot topic for a few years now. While everyone agrees that it will be the next best thing in the industry, it hasn’t quite lived up to the rumors yet. Many developers released VR games in an attempt to seize the throne of the category, and some of them have caught many people’s eyes. In this list, we will see which VR games are the best to play in the new year.
Think of Beat Saber as a combination of the Tron and Guitar Hero Revolution. You have to slash through the sabers while listening to the beat of a track. It’s not as random as it sounds, believe me, you have to dodge obstacles in specific directions and colors, and you also have to do it while in tune with the song. There are a couple of VR headsets you can play Beat Saber on:
- Oculus Rift
- HTC Vive
- Windows Mixed Reality Devices
The Tetris Effect isn’t much different than the standard Tetris game if we are talking about the playthrough. Each level is in a different environment, and you can experience different sounds and scenes that will blow your mind. This game was exclusively designed for PlayStation VR.
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard
Resident Evil 7 is another PlayStation VR exclusive title on this list. Resident Evil 7 is a first-person horror game that you can play even on a PC or PS4, but the design of the game was definitely for VR. In this horrific experience, you play as Ethan Winters – a man whose wife went missing years ago, and you will have to find her while trying to survive the encounters with the creatures in the game.
No Man’s Sky
“Hello Games” didn’t design No Man’s Sky to be a VR game, but it seems to be the right fit for the virtual experience. That’s why No Man’s Sky VR was highly anticipated before it was released in 2019. In this action-adventure game, you have the opportunity to discover many worlds and use many new virtual features. The developers outdid themselves when it comes to the game feeling more like a VR, which makes it one of the best VR games on the market for now.
Defector is essentially a spy game for VR. Many people compare it to the Mission Impossible game, but not everyone agrees. In this game, you can do cool stuff like jump out of an airplane or impersonate someone – “real spy stuff,” and it all seems real, but the storyline of the game itself isn’t as impressive. The game was mainly built around replayability, so it’s understandable. You can play this game on Oculus Rift and Rift S.
Astro Bot: Rescue Bot
This PSVR exclusive title takes you on a mission around space to save your lost crewmates. Each level is consisting of eight BOTs you need to protect from enemies or traps. You will have to go through jungles, caves, mountains, cities, and beaches. The effects seem like they were designed with ease, and the VR world is something else.
